Has anybody run one of the new 9 series cards? or know somebody that has? I was wondering how they'd compare to the 8800, or the 8600, which i have. I noticed that they were considerably cheaper than the 8800, but I didnt know if that necessarily meant it was much worse.

9600 is a little slower than the 8800.
But Nvidia released it to compete with the 8600.
The 9800 is better than the 8800.
Or so I have heard.

Nvidias not going to try to compete with there own cards. The 9600GT would wipe the floor with a 8600GT. The 9600GT and the 8800GS/GT competes with AMD/ATI 3850 and 3870.

That's not what I meant, I meant in the same series, as like, a mid-range card, like the 8600.

You would be better off with any 8800 than a 8600GT (Kinda of a dog card). Think the 7600GT beats it in some benchmarks. If your looking in that price range and want a Nivida card stick with or 8800GS/GT or the 9600GT. For the price right now its hard to beat a 8800GS/ 100 bucks with mail in rebate or even the 9600GT
