Would my P4 work in a ASUS P5N-T Deluxe?

Processor: Pentium 4 521 2.8ghz 90nm socket 775
Motherboard: ASUS 780i P5N-T Deluxe

if its says in the mobo manual it does then it will. but i would have thought so. why put a old P4 in a 780 board? you may as well just get a new CPU. a E6600 will be a huge improvement on a P4 and they are quite cheap.
