939 and AM2

Guys, whats the difference between socket 939 and socket AM2, which one is newer???

am2 is newer, I'm not sure how much better it is or what new features it has

yep AM2 is newer. there were rumors of a reverse-hyperthreading type of technology... if you see anything about it disregard it because there's no such thing.
basically the only real difference is that AM2 has semprons and supports ddr2 memory.

They won't be "gone" but they won't be supported/produced anymore. Get AM2 for the long run(which will most likely be very short).

Thats pretty much the only big difference.
