Ok, Ive had my current setup for the past 2 years and its time for a change...right now:
a7n8x-x w/ 2500+ @ 3200+
2 gb pc3200
antec smart power 350w
9800pro
Im going to get a 7900gs or 1950pro...probably the ati...my problem is the processor. I would like to get a x2 3800... but I dont think I can justify the leap in price.
the two ive been thinking about:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2552458&CatId=1619
or
same board but with a 3700+ for $160.99 (link messed up sorry)
Im probably going to have to buy a new psu because of the 1950pro and the Ocing im going to be doing...unless anyone can tell me that I might be ok(not into lots of fans or lights)...and more over, the cost difference will be at least 100+ for mobo and chip, plus another 150 for ddr2 ram which I would save on if I used my 2gigs of ddr400 with the 939.
I looked at the benchmarks and the diffrence between a x2 3800 and 64-bit 4000+ or 3700+ dont seem to be that amazing. Am I being foolish? As a student Im tight on cash and wanted a quick upgrade that I wouldnt have to invest a whole lot into. And with quad core around the corner I was going to wait till next winter to do another upgrade.
Im into gaming and dont do alot of multi tasking...websurfing, music, schoolwork and chating at the most...so am I throwing my moeny away saving the extra $250-300 for the x2???
Thanks for your patience reading my post.
