9600GSO $26.99 after rebate

Too bad it's out of stock my little brother has been getting ready to build a computer and wanted a cheap graphics card that would be better the the onboard graphics. I told him to get a 9600gso,8800gs I'm going to keep an eye on it for him.

Memory 384mb.
Fillrate 27.6 billion/sec.
Bandwidth 38.4 gb/s.

Nice, mail in rebates suck though. Nothing better than instant gratification :]

Agreed when I build a system I never include the rebate in the price because 50% of the time you will never get them for some off the wall reason.

There was an article that explained the psychology of mail-in-rebates.
Items sell better with a mail-in-rebate, but most people will not
even bother sending it out. Out of the ones that do, some will never
cash the check. Of course, that's if the company even honours the rebate,
and you receive it after 6 months of waiting.

I think most of the time it's just a scam to sell old stuff for more than it's
worth.

Yeah, even then though, these things are basically an 8800gt with a little less memory and 16 less shaders. for $46 it kills anything else in the price range like the 4550/4650.

Its really just a rebranded 8800GS. They just changed the name of the 8800GT to 9800GT and the 8800GS to 9600GSO.

Yup, unlike the "new" 9600gso's which are a 9600gt cut to 48 shaders though, these are great cards for folding and for the price decent gaming cards.

I always get my rebate and this is after 6-8 years of using them. Then again I stick with Logitech/Gigabyte/EVGA/Corsair and G-skill for all my builds.
