Pricing should come under the HD 3870 and well under the 8800GT. While the card tends to perform on par with the HD 3870, sometimes better and sometimes slightly worse, with the great success NVIDIA has been having over the past few years people simply feel more comfortable using an NVIDIA card instead of an ATI based one. NVIDIA also tend to partner up with more game companies it seems, meaning that ultimately newer games are made for NVIDIA and able to perform better on their cards.

Haha! My mate had the Pro version, "pwned" yours Geoff :P

I really don't see the point in these new cards that aren't any better than ones already out, Yeah, Ok, you can say that you've got a 9 series card, Big hoo har! But, it doesn't perform any better than the last series...

I supose the Price : performance is good though!

Thats true, but the 8 series was released in November of 2006, so I think were overdue for a new generation :)

ok.now here's the deal:8800GT's average price is $250,9600GT's average price is $200.
I really dont think any customer with 8800series card is gonna purchase 9600GT even a 8800GS user.so it's more likely to face the mid customer with 8600series such as me.:D
ps:nvdia's medium card got 256-bit memory width finally.I wait for this day for toooooooo long.

Yeah, but there's been updates to the 8 series hasn't there, like the G92 GTS, the GT and the GS...
