965 > 975

This is probably a basic question, but are 965 chipsets in general "better" then 975? I know 975 has been out longer, but it is a higher #. Doesn't 965 tend to OC better?

It's the opposite, the 975 chipsets are far superior to the 965.

965 is limited to only 1x pci-e x16 slot, if you add another, it cant run any faster then 4x mode. There are also many other disadvantages to the 965.

The 965 does tend to overclock better and it has native ddr2-800 support. The 975 based boards generally have a better 'stock' featureset and I believe the 965 doesn't allow upwards unlocking of Core 2 Extremes.

Ok gotcha. One last thing-what intel chipset does an nVidia 5 board compare to? And a 6?
