965be vs. i7

There have been a lot of threads lately that have been talking about how the i7 blows everything else away. I'm not here to dispute that. I know that it is a beast of a processor. What I am confused about is, why? What specs on the i7 let it outperform everything else? I compared the specs of Amd's 965be and the i7 975 Extreme since those processors seem to be the best of the best from the two platforms.

Please don't let this turn into a I hate Intel or I hate AMD because of xyz thread. I think that we can all agree that the Forum doesn't need another one of those floating around.

We do not compare those two processors. We compare the i7-920. Truth is the i5-750 is faster at most everything than the 965.

Specs have nothing to do with it. If they did the 965 would win.

This one has all of the chips.

yes, clock for clock an i7 will beat a phenom. ALSO, i7's are hyper-threaded(so it acts as if it is 8 cores, not 4)
