ok seriously i need to kno which one i should get cause i hear that the 9800GTX beats 4850 and i hear that the 4850 beats the 9800GTX. but seriously which one is bettr and which one is more quality?

They are about on par with each other, my guess is that the 4850 is the best bet. You can overclock it, givin the fact that the 4870 uses the same core, and its right with, on par with the $660 GTX 280..

^ Much? I doubt that. I think the actual performance levels are pretty close, but for its price the 4850 is (a lot?) better performer.

if not much than its a higher performance card. to me it sound slike the thread is asking for which is higher performance regardless of pricing or whatsoever. even if by little.

vote 9800gtx.

Why don't you look at some benchmarks before deciding. The 4850 performs better on average using high resolutions such as 1920x1200, and even at lower resolutions the 9800GTX isn't that far ahead, only a few FPS on average then the 4850.

but its also $200 more....

2 4850s are kickass, just as good as 2 4870s

And you can keep your intel mobo instead of a nforce one...

ThatGuy16 makes it sound like you can't over clock the 9800 GTX. I have an Evga 9800 GTX and over clock the crap out of it!

core clock 675 stock, mine is at 730 Mhz
shader clock is 1688 stock, mine is at 1825
memory clock is 1100 stock, mine is at 1240

Runs high 70s and low 80s when over clocked....could be cooler but what the heck.

With an Intel Q9300 stock speed and the GPU speeds above, 13110 with 3dMark06 with default settings.

I really think Nvidia cards over clock better...keep um cool and let er rip!

Are you serious? All i said is that you can overclock the 4850, giving the fact you can obviously do the same to the 9800

^ Well, apparently the 4850 beats the 9800GTX when running at higher resolutions, and most of us DO NOT play games at 640x480, so... vote 4850, because it wins, even if by little

Bullseye.
