9800GTX triple VS 9800GX2 Quad benchmark numbers!

Found an interesting article benchmarking the 9800gtx in triple SLI versus the 9800gx2 in quad SLI. The results may surprise you.

I wish they included three 8800GTX Ultras in tri-SLI just so we can see if the 9800GTX is actually worth the extra cash. In an earlier thread I mentioned that nvidia released the 9xxx series of cards too soon, and they don't present enough of a performance gain over the 8xxx series. All I can say is that the 10xxx series had better destroy the 9xxx series.

I must say tough, I find the performance of the 9800GTX quite disappointing compared to what cards were out (way) before that. I mean, 15k in 3dmark06 1280x1024? I get 12k with my current card. I'd love to see bigger performance jumps to be honest. (geforce 6 to 7 was the performance doubled for example)

That was exactly what I was saying. I'm quite disappointed with the results of the 9 series. In fact I think they should have been called the 8900GTX and 8900GX2 instead of bumping them up all the way to the 9xxx series. Like I said before, the 10xxx series had better destroy the 9xxx series.
