9800pro Problems

I was playing World of Warcraft when opaque planes appeared on my screen. They changed when I moved and appeared everywhere. I restarted, but the startup screen what a scrambled mess of symbols and colors with the vague resemblence of the Normal Windows screen  . The desktop screen had many different colored lines that flashed and changed colors. Took the card out and cleaned it with contact cleaner and replaced. Still the same problem. I thought maybe it was over heating, but that was just a guess. Any sugestions?

Check for a virus (AVG Free edition works well) or spyware (Spybot Search and Destroy).

virus

Sounds a lot like a virus to me. I've found that Norton Antivirus has the best protection. Get that if you can..before it is too late.

Forgot to mention, replaced the 9800 pro with my old 32mb video card and everything worked fine. I was doing more research and found that the 9800 requires a 300 watt PSU and I have a 250 watt, maybe thats the problem?

I had a 9600 with a 250psu back in the day..didnt have the 250 in there long because I feared something going wrong (had 3 hd's and 1 dvd rom, 1 cdrw) so upgraded it to 450 and never had problems.

a bigger psu might solve your problem.. that or not playing WoW :D

Went out and got a 300w PSU from Compusa. Turns out my POS Dell has what most sites call a "proprietary Dell Power Supply", meaning it has the normal 24pin motherboard adapter plus an additional 8pin adapter. All ready checked http://www.endpcnoise.com for their adapter, but just my luck the only model this adapter won't fit is the Dimension 8100, the one I have  . Ok so I pissed off, but main purpose is to see if power was the issue behind my video card woes or if the card is broken. So I hooked up the 300 watt PSU to the video card and the dell PSU to everything else. I got the "No Power to Video Card" on screen message. Tried several times and the same luck. Pluged the dell one into the video card and the 300 watt one into the hard drives to see if the power supply is working. The hard drives did not spin up and the computer gave the "no operating system found" message. The fan on the 300 watt one is spinning. I'm not sure if the power supply needs to be connected to the mother board to send power or if I'm doing something else wrong  . What now?!?!?!?
