A couple External Hard Drive questions

I saw a deal for an external Hard Drive that would be really practical, but I'm clueless as to what I should get. The specs for the drive is:
- Hi-Speed USB 2.0
- Horizontal or vertical placement
- Fanless design
- 7200 RPM
- 8 or 2 MB cache1
- Stackable
- On-Off switch
- Mac & PC ready
- 160 GB
Price- $29.99 (One day sale at Comp USA on Thursday)

Is this a good deal? Also, does my computer have to be 7200 RPM? Mine is only 5200 RPM and I don't know if it would still be compatible. I'm basically trying to clear out some space from my laptop and desktop from all the videos and files I've uploaded.

I think it would be a good deal if your usimg it for storage!
I might have to go down to CompUSA tomorrow and see what kind of deals they are having.

The 7200 rpm means how fast the HD will spin... TRhe faster the better. The Cache size higher would be a lot better (8mb). For 30$ it seems like a great deal. As long as it is from a reputable store.. CompUSA does have a return policy, so it sounds like a great deal.

Sweet, yeah I'm just using it for storage. I have hours and hours of old home movies that I wanna put on my desktop but I don't wanna take all my space up. I was worried that since my computer and the external harddrive were different rev speeds that they wouldn't be in sync with each other.

What does the cache do?
