Hello ,
can you please suggest me a different way to update my AMD graphic drivers?
my pc crashes and recovers a few times a day ( windows 8.1 ) saying the PC has just recovered from a graphic failure ,you need to update your AMD drivers.
my device manager say the drivers are up to date but it keeps crashing.
so when i was ripping and converting a DVD finally the device manager started updating the graphic card drivers and crashed because the heavy load of the active ripping and converting , afterward at rest it refused again to update the drivers saying they're up to date .
Is there another way to update my graphic drivers that I'm not aware of ?
Thanks and happy new year to all.

Did you try uninstalling them and going to the AMD website and downloading the ones there? I dont ever update my drivers in device manager.

If you uninstall them Id recommend using a program like DriverCleaner to make sure everything goes.

thank you G80FTW and WRXGuy1

So now my plan is to start in safe mode , uninstall the 2 graphic drivers , run DriverCleaner , reboot , restart in safe mode with networking , go to the AMD graphic drivers page , do the Automatically Detect and Install and reboot.
Am I forgetting something ?
thanks again

Just download the driver and save it in your download or documents folder. After you uninstall all of the older drivers. Reboot and install the new one you saved.

I wouldnt do automatically detect and install. I mean, I suppose you can but theres always a chance it will either give you the wrong driver or an out-dated one. I never trusted it on nvidias site. I always just look for the latest driver for my specific card on their site.

AMDs auto-detect tool is kind of iffy. Definitely don't use it on laptops!
I've used it before a few times (I don't anymore!) and it either gives me an error that it couldn't find any GPUs installed or it gives me the newest correct driver.
When you head to AMD.com under drivers, there are a few links listed by OS that will take you to the newest driver for that OS.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64
Assuming you have 64-bit OS, just download this, uninstall your old and install this.

hmm overclocked PC with CF 260Xs hey?

What PSU are you using?

thanks for your help . tomorrow I'll work on it ,
i'm still worried about what happens when I uninstall the drivers , will the monitor go low res VGA ?
do I really need to do the whole operation in safe mode ?

You can't run AMDs installer in safe mode unfortunately. And yes, your monitor will most likely revert to 800x640 or something in the likes of that while there's no driver. Once you install the driver again, it will go back to its normal resolution though.

I think I fixed the problem of updating the graphic drivers and no more crashes for 2 weeks.
I uninstalled from the device manager under the drivers tab of display adapters , I was expecting a drop of definition in the monitor but I was surprised it didn't happen so I double checked the device manager and the display adapters were really gone,so I decided not to run driver cleaner,I wanted to trust windows 8 to uninstall correctly, I rebooted ,still full HD and installed the new updated drivers package from AMD, rebooted and haven't had a problem anymore for now, so I want to thank all of you for teaching me to do it correctly, have a nice day
