Hey guys its my first post, Not 100% sure where I should put this post so I'm going to put it out in the open.

I Have a Toshiba G20, im having a few issues with it;

1. Its slow, it has Win XP Pro, 1.5GB of ram, and its generally slow.

2. Browsing the internet with it is soooo slow, even though it says im connected (Using wifi) at 54MBPS.

3. The volume indercater is not working. The model I have has a kind of scrollie/round volume slider, (Please google for pictures because i dont know how to explain it :S) And to the left of it, lights used to light up to how much i had it turned up. It doesnt any more. It did work fine up untill a few days ago. But it still turns up and down volume.

4. My Fn buttons dont seem to work, but then 3 part fn buttons confuse me a little. Worked fine when i got it about 2 months ago.

5. The brightness touch buttons dont seem to work. They work fine when i got the laptop about 2 months ago.

You help would be appreciated.

So Sorry for spelling.

Seems to be hardware issue. No ideas....

May be you should try format the machine to see if it can run faster??

NO! That's stupid. Let's work through the problem with the current installation first. Your suggestion is a last resort. I would suggest scanning for viruses first. After that, get drivers from Toshiba for your model and operating system and install them. Then, if nothing works, I would get the Toshiba restore disc and reinstall. Not before.

What do you mean drivers? Do they cost? Sorry im good at using computers but not fixing them. :S I think i have the recovery disk, and i backed up my coputer awhile ago on my external. But it look like 9 hours when the HDD is 99GB

Id actually agree with Daisy,A fresh install might be a better alternative because not only will it be a fresh clean install...it wont take nearly as much time as having to search and potentially removing any viruses/spyware and any other crap he has lurking on his system.

TrentMichael...Do you have the XP CD that came with your Laptop or does it have a Recovery Partition on the hard drive?

Either way id re-install windows..then when its installed get windows to search for Updates...that should pick up what drivers your laptop needs..if for some reason it does not find all drivers then we can help you further ;)

EDIT:And no TrentMichael Drivers are all free :)

Recovery disk is all you need, just insert it into your CD/DVD drive and restart the laptop...wait for it to read the disk and follow the on screen instructive and just restore.

If the disk gives you the option to do a "Destructive restore" then thats what id recommend doing as it will be like a fresh install....it will wipe everything clean.

Make sure you back up all your important stuff.

You won't, it will save to a folder called windows old after the install as long as it is a manufacture (Toshiba, Dell, HP etc) windows disc.

Doesn't matter who made the disc-all Win7 discs do that. I would still boot from the Hiren's Boot CD and get your files off tho-just in case.
