Im currently looking at going with;

Antec 900 Case
Sony DVD RW
Floppy Drive
Q6600 2.4ghz CPU
320GB SATA 7.2k rpm
Standard mouse+keyboard
2x2GB Corsair RAM
19" monitor
Dual boot Windows Vista/XP
GeForce 8800GT 512MB

Motherboard wise im not to sure, was thinking of using Asus P5k-e. Is there another board roughly in the same price range that might be a better choice?

I have no idea what amount of watts i need to power this...was thinking 600w?

Do i need a heatsink? i wouldnt be overclocking or anything..

Any responses much appreciated:D

The 900 is a good case. Asus generally is one of the better made boards to start with. You can also look over a few different Gigabyte, MSI, Abit models however. Even when running everything stock many prefer to go for an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro or Zalman CNPS model like the 9500 or 9700 for the higher price.

600 watts will do fine, for a motherboard, if your looking to spend under 220$ american then get something like the MSI P6N Diamond 680i motherboard. heatsinks are not necessary unless you decide to overclock down the road, which is really unnecessary.

The 900 has good air flow which actually does more no matter what hsf you throw on a cpu. By keeping board temps low the rest benefits from that alone. A 520 to 600w is plenty since that will see the extra molex power plugs for the case fans on the 900. The 120 was plugged into the 12v auxillery on the Asus M2N-E AMD board here.

You might benefit in gaming if you switch to a X38 and a Dual Core 45nm compatible CPU...

A dual core cpu is better for a long list of things as well as for gaming once you see a good cpu speed working for you. Try moving up from a 2.2ghz single core model to a 3ghz dual core cpu. Nice!
