formats.

if you guys recommend it i shall ask for it for christmas.

2. im planning to wait till the new intel processors are out untill i get an E6850.
how much would it be after the new ones are out? and should i go the 6850 or the Q6600?

3. how high might i be able to overclock the E6850 still using normal cooling. ie not water cooling?

4. how high would you say my current processor Pentium D945 3.4 Ghz would go?

thanks

If you already got a PD CPU, I will suggest you use it and wait until Jan 08 to get the new 45nm CPU.
And the broad you chosen is fine. MSI P35 Neo2-FR/ MSI P35 Platinum is a good alternative.

lol im gonna get an e8650 after january cos they will be cheaper. i doubt i will have the money to get one of the new ones.

I doubt. I haven't heard any official annocuncement. May be I miss it??
What I have seen is, even the E6550 E6750 E6850 were out, there is no substantial drop in price with the old E6300, E6400, E6600...

Q6600

A good amount. Dependent on thermal paste, cooler, case, RAM, ect.

Maybe 200-600 OC...
