A Few RAID Questions

How good is RAID0? Will it increase performance by half? Or is it not really that good?

If I get another 500gb HDD to go RAID0 does it have to be identically in everyway or will any 500gb hdd with the same specs work.. (like ive got a seagate now do I have to get another seagate? or will any brand work?)

If I setup RAID0 I assume I have to formatt everything and reinstall Vista etc?

Cheers

Don't bother with RAID. Unless you're getting a better deal with both drives, you'd be just as well off getting one big one. A while back I had a pair of Raptors in my computer. The performance was faster, but only marginally. Under most circumstances, you'll probably notice very little change.

But on to your other questions, you should be able to use any drive to create the RAID. I've heard even mis-matched sizes work, but most people suggest having identical drives.

And yes, you will need to format the drives.
