A few things?

I'm nearly ready to buy a computer, it's my first time putting one together, I still have very limited knowledge. So I was hoping someone could help with a couple of things before I order.

The hitachi brand hard drives seem to be a bit cheaper, do you think that they are just as good quality as the others?

My motherboard will have 4 slots. I only need 1gb of memory at the moment, but eventually I will probably want to go up to 2gb. I was going to get 2 dual channel 512s, but i I upgrade to 2gb if I have all 4 slots filled with 512s because it'a an athlon apparently all the memory will run at slower speeds, which sucks.

So would 2 dual 512s have much of a performance increase over a single stick of gig? Because I was thinking of just getting the single stick to prevent that previously mentioned problem from emerging.

Phew, one more thing, I was trying to chhose between 2 6600 gt graphics cards, but I don't understand the terminology.
They are both Pci express and sli ready, but one of them has dual dvi/hdtv and the other one has vga/dvi/tv out.

I don't know what dvi, vga, hdtv or tv out even mean, and which do you think is better?

Cheers, Blue

Okay, I've had a bad experience with my Hitachi hard drive a couple years ago. It only lasted about three months then went shot. I'd suggest going with something like Western Digital or Seagate.

As for the RAM, you probably won't see an excessive increase in performance by two dual channel 512 sticks, unless you do a lot of hardcore gaming. If you are worried about the slowing down with four sticks and if you are planning on upgrading soon, then I would go with one 1GB stick.

With the 6600GT's, DVI out is a newer connector mainly used for upper-end LCD screens. Chances are you don't have a DVI connector with your monitor, VGA is much more common. I have the 6600GT with both the VGA and DVI out, as well as the TV out. I'm pretty sure the HDTV out has the same quality as the TV out, since my card has TV out and supports resolutions of higher than just normal TV.
