Hokay so here is my delima... im building a comp 4 mah parents mah mom plays lots of music and mah dad is on the internet alot= multitasking. so i dont want to spend alot so whats a good (cheap) cpu 4 what they do ne help?

Thanks

how much is not a lot?

lower end of the scale Athlon 64 are a decent price and more than up to the task im sure

The cheapest one, your tasks does not require alot of CPU power.

Celeron or Sempron does not matter, grab the cheapest.

if you're surfing the internet and playing music, any cpu will do. you'll wanta 7200rpm hard drive with an 8mb buffer, and 512mb or 1024mb of ram...
thats a half of a gig, or a gig of ram.
nothin special, preferably some cheap ddr400, pc3200.

if you plan on upgrading to windows Vista, i suggest something sempron or athlon 64 with 1gb of pc3200 ram.
may i suggest this processor?

that supports 64-bit (cheaply) and its 1.8ghz for $84
or, this one is good too. double the cache with 200mhz less clockspeed:

for $10 less... lol

I would recommend an AMD Sempron 64 2800+ 1.8Ghz CPU for $73. It's decent for gaming (not that it matters), good for multi-tasking and everyday use, runs cooler than Celeron's, and is 64Bit for Vista and/or XP Pro x64.
