A good gaming laptop?

Hi, I've been doing a lot of gaming and graphic heavy work (I design and create games), and need a gaming computer (yes i know desktops are better, but i prefer laptops). Also, I know it is much cheaper to make your own computer, but I have never made a desktop, so no way I'm trying a laptop.

So, after looking around I decided to ask myself: what is the best gaming laptop in the $1,500 range (absolute maximum being $1,900). The problem with finding laptops, is that all the reviews are of computers that you get online and customize (AKA you select the computer you want, then select specifics of basic or high functioning features such as graphics card, screen type, and tons of things I don't know about).

So I was hoping someone could tell me what the best gaming laptop in this money - range would be, and what specifications to fill out when I order it?

(right now i was thinking an msi 780R, but I don't know how it compares and as said, i wouldn't know which options to fill out)

Good question and this is something I am pretty interested in. I have been building computers for a long time now and own a pretty decent desktop gaming computer but the majority of my time outside of work is spent on my Laptop (currently own a Alienware x15). Even though its a decent spec it's very limited when it comes to upgrades (for obvious reasons). So I find you need deep pockets to keep up with high end hardware when running / using laptops for graphics intensive applications, new games, and so on... Something I've been looking at recently on Tom's Hardware is the Xotic NP series. It's a pretty standard looking laptop that hosts high end components. Looking at the pricing it seems to be pretty reasonable.

Unfortunately for me they are not available in the UK to buy yet but it they were I would be seriously looking to make a purchase. I think there is more of a market now for gaming laptops so I would like to hear from others on here about their recommendations just for me to stay in touch on whats available.
