a little help with upgrading

I've been having so much trouble finding answers for this on manufactures site and so on... I'm really frustrated and any help would be so much appreciated.
I'm looking to upgrade my PC for gaming and I'm not sure about the compatibility of the components. I would like to run GTA Liberty City and Aliens VS Predator at high settings.

I have a Gigabyte S-Series Ga-M55SLI-S4 motherboard, here is a link

I'm looking at these products:
Screen Card - Can this motherboard support ATI? If I need Nvidia could you please recommend a compatible one around this price range.

Processor - I'll be upgrading from a Athlon X2 3600, is this new one strong enough for games? and is it compatible? I wouldn't mind paying a little more if there is something much better and compatible.

Memory - I have 2GB DDR2, should I add another GB?

Power Supply - I have a 400W, do I need to get a 650W? (same price for me locally as a 500W).

I'm using a 22' LCD screen if that matters.

Yes, the video card will work on your board, that is a decent processor, and if I were you I would make the jump to 4GB of RAM. I'm assuming you're using a 32bit operating system? In that case, 4GB is your absolute maximum for RAM, and even that you won't get full use out of.

Hm, the PSU would help with your new video card. Just make sure it has all the right connectors!

I am using a 32bit so I'll add the memory (if you don't mind answering, just out of curiosity, how much difference does this actually make? like the difference between having 3Gb and 4GB).
I guess once I buy the stuff the local suppliers (I need a 220V not the American 110V) can help me with a PSU.

the only thing remaining is the Processor cooling, is this good? How can I know if it will fit my case? I have a Compucase 6A19 Black Midi Tower.
 
also, does it matter if the memory added is exactly the same? I mean for it to work it dual channel or doesn’t it matter? thanks.
 
Do you have the GA M55SLI S4 or GA M59SLI S4. You said 55 but the link is the 59. But anyway, CPU suppport says neither board supports a 7850. I have a GA M55SLI S4 and they never updated the bios on either board to support AM2+ or AM3 processors.

I have a 55... sorry about the link. That's really bad about the bios, so what do you do?
would it still support the video card?
