a nvidia geforce 5200 question

how come that i have a shamefully pants gpu in my pc (nvidia 5200) and it still plays css with med graphics settings @50fps and have only 512 RAM how come in a recent review section in CPC magazine, the nvidia 5950 (presumably better) failed to have any fps whatsoever on any games they tested it on (that was the ldest gpu they had) but i can get fps on css that presumably has similair needs to that of the games they tested it on (i have no idea what the sys reqs are of the games they tested it on).

(i presume you have all gathered the fact that im a noob, and are all now laughing @ me)
also im planning to buy a laptop (im in uk so all those people who say i can get better specs on alienware for the same price, i cant get usa prices in the uk)
it has a 1.8 turion, 512 RAM (im gonna upgrade this with another stick of 1gb) a nvidia 7300 (according to the review this gpu is pants, but i assume it is better than my 5200) and thats it i think, what kind of fps you reckon ill get?

i currently have an fx5200 128mb and a sempron 2600+ with 512mb ddr400 and mine will play most games not allways that well but it does play them

i run on a 5200, and it serves faiily well in CS:CZ (as much as i play it), i get about 40fps max, drops to about 10 in smoke, average 25fps... not good but it runs, upgrade wil come soon. Im not sure what the guy who tested the card was on about, there is obviously some underlying fault if he got 0fps, cos it simply wouldnt run like that... at all... EVER

oh and yes, you assumed right, the 7300 is a newer/better graphics chipset than the 5200. but you will probably find that the 7300 is integrated, whihc means processing power is not that graet on the GPU side, and it will "leech" from the system RAM, basically resulting in a low performance. Try and lok for an actual dedicated video card in a lptop, its mroe expensive but well worth it.
