a quick question

Hi I have looked around the forum and the internet but I couldn't find anything that answers my question specifically.

at the moment I am running windows XP and am looking to change to vista ultimate.

would I be able to save programmes like Nero 8 and Microsoft office onto a external HD and then transfer them back to my laptop when its running vista?

thanks in advance for any replies and sorry if I have missed a thread with my answer or my question is in the wrong section.

If your asking if you can move over a installed program from one OS/harddrive to another-No.

oh.. so microsoft office that was previously installed on XP will not work on vista?

Yes it will work on Vista if you reinstall it. But you cant drag over a installed program.

Ok so I would need the original install disc (sorry I haven't done this before)

can you not migrate your programs, files, settings etc if you do an upgrade

Suppose so if he Has XP 32 bit and Vista 32bit and does a upgrade.
