Ok the question I have is this:

Is my motherboard (ASUS A8N-E) compatable with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo processor?

On the front of the box it lists the X2 processors but on the back of the box it only says Athlon 64FX and Athlon 64. On the newegg website it says the same thing as the back box (I bought it off newegg). I went out to the ASUS Customer Support thing and it said that it supported the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo on the A8N-E motherboard.

So my question is...DOES IT...or DOES IT NOT?

I pray it does

I think most 939 boards where made before the X2 was released. I bet about anything the X2 thing on the front is simply a sticker...

I have an A8N Deluxe with a X2 4200

the thing is you may have to flash your bios to get it to work properly with that board...so if you get an error when you boot up about overclocking failed or CMOS errors then you need to flash it...this happened with mine

From Asus Supports AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64FX/Athlon 64 X2/Athlon 64
AMD64 architecture enables simultaneous 32- and 64-bit computing
Supports AMD Cool 'n' Quiet Technology

If the Asus website states it does then theres a good chance that it most likely does. Also, going from what everyone else here has said, I'd assume so.

This is what i got from the ASUS Processor Support. CPU-Z says my BIOS version is 1010 so will i be ok?

It's always nice to have the latest official release of everything. So I'd suggest maybe flashing it to 1013 as it might have better support for X2 processors.

you need a floppy drive to flash right? well i dont really have one of those.

Also i just need to know will it support the x2 with the 1010 version?

If you know a way i can flash the drive with only a cd drive then be my guest and tell me

You don't even need a CD/DVD drive to flash. You can do it from your desktop using an application that is free to download from Asus' website. It's how I flash my bios. All you do is download the updater program, download the 1013 bios image file, run the updater program, select the bios update file and give it 3 minutes, the computer restarts, and your bios is now flashed and done.

(Although it can be risky, regardless of how you do it, to flash your bios, so do it at your own risk)

As for support of the X2 on 1010, you'd be better off asking Asus themselves on that as no one elses word will be as reliable than their own. Plus you can hold them accountable if anything goes wrong ;).
