Alos, according to fillip you have to have a floppy enabled in the BIOS as well. I can't attest to this as mine has been enabled the entire time, although I took the drive out a while ago since it was making a racket...

I would have to say the joke was on me lately when buying a replacement for the cheapie 3 1/2" drives sold locally in stores with different generic brand names on them depending on where you go. Newegg didn't even have the Sony models listed lately when a pair of them was ordered from
1. Stay on topic
2. The only difference in modern day floppy drives is, for all intents and purposes, the motor mechanism -- the drive controller ICs are so simple, a 1st year HDL student could create one so this "pro-sony floppy drive" business is crap.
