I have a Asus A8V-E Deluxe (VIA K8T890 Chipset). And I have an opportunity to get a AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800. (Currently a Athlon 64 3200+). I was Wondering if that processor would be compatible with my mobo (I really hope so).

Also, I'm thinking of getting new Ram. I was hoping to get 2gig duelchannel, any recomendations? Thanks for the replies.

R U Sure? I want to be sure because I know someone who put a processor in a motherboard but it was to much! Boom! no more motherboard, even if it was the same socket (wouldn't get far if the processor wasn't the same socket as mobo  ). Can anyone else confirm what DSM1999 said? Would Asus A8V-E Deluxe be indeed compatible with an Athlon 64 X2 3800? Thanks for replies.

Sorry, but you're out of luck. The A8V-E Deluxe does NOT support dual core CPUs. From Asus' FAQ:
