hi i have a abit av8 sata1 mobo
and i have a maxtor diamondmax 10 sata2 hdd
i cant get the bios to reconize the hdd windows is running on a pata drive
i think sata 2 is backward compatable with sata1 i downloaded maxblast and that cant detect a hdd please help im lost
 
OK, heres what you need to do:

When the computer starts up, press Delete. it should take you into the BIOS

Then, using the arrow keys, Move down to "Integrated Peripherals" and press enter.

Then move to "OnChip IDE Device" and press enter.

On the top there should be a option that says "Sata RAID Rom", You want to disable this. You should be able to change this Via the + or - keys. (there are instructions on the bottom if its not the + or - keys.)

then press ESC untill you get to the main screen, DONT EXIT, go to Save and exit, press Y and then restart and try the hard drive.
