Abit KN8 problem

I just received some new parts for a PC I'm building for someone (office use only, no gaming), but on power-on, the fans spin for only a second and then power off, except for the CPU fan, which doesn't work at all while connected to "CPUFAN1," it's fine, though, on any other connection. Parts:

Abit KN8 (Socket 939)
A64 3200+ (Venice)
Corsair 1GB (2 x 512)
ATi X300
Enermax 420W
Seagate 120GB
Cooler Master Centurion 5

I tried the PSU with my current setup, no problems, is it the mobo?
 
short the green and black wire with a paper clip to get the thing working without a board.

Sounds like its the PSU if your current one will make it work.

Try what I said and you can find out if its the PSU.

I doubt its the board TBH:)
 
Update: I tried using an old 300W PSU on the new setup, works fine, does that mean we can be sure it's the Enermax at fault?
 
bad news: CPU fan still doesn't work where it's supposed to, the RAM banks are very picky, the HDD does not power on with the IDE cable connected, the CPU does not appear to be getting any voltage, and the video card is not sending any signal to the monitor

I don't see how it can be anything but the mobo at this point, I've tried everything, maybe I should try to get a couple individual parts tested somewhere like the CPU or mobo?
 
When you got the system working on a old 300W PSU could you get to POST and your BIOS and everything like that?

I think it could maybe be an combatibilty issue if the PSU works off of the board and the board works with another PSU.

Not entirely sure ATM though cos Enermax are a good make:confused:

Are both the board and your Enermax 20/24 pin?

No, just a blank screen with the check vga message

Board is 24-pin, PSU is 20-pin (with a 4-pin separate)... the mobo has the extra "ATXPWR1" 4-pin connection interconnected to make a total of 24 pins, which I really shouldn't need at the moment, while another mobo I have, an Abit NF7-S has the extra 4-pin separate from the main 20-pin connection
