Abit or Asus?

Hey guys!

This is how I'm gonna set up my new computer soon:

Case: NZXT nemesis elite
Processor: AMD X2 or FX-57
Videocard: asus EN6800
Soundcard: CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum
Hard drive: 2 10k raptors (raid 0)
RAM: 1 gig kingston hyper x
Cd/DVD burners: 2 NEC ND-3520A Black IDE DVD Burner
Cooling: swiftech H20-120 Revision 3a
Power supply: Silverstone ST65ZF Zeus 650 W (yes, I know, overkill)

Now here's my question: should I go with the Asus A8N SLI or the A-Bit Fatal1ty SLI Mobo (I'm gonna upgrade to 2 cards later on)?

Upgrading hardware is a personal choice and you shouldn't let anyone else decide for you... it's like buying a car, only you know what kind of an engine (therefore car you want). Search for reviews on both motherboards, as they will give detailed analysis and breakdowns on the pros and cons of each, consequently allowing you to make your mind up as to which one you want- easy :)

I've heard DFI are cheap boards, and my friend has some problems with his... I've had 4 Abit mobo's and have no problems out of them! I'm using the regular AN8 now(only real difference between the regular and Fatality is SATA2 support and some visuals) Well, then there's the SLi version if you want that...

dfi are the best out there for amd 64! check out the benchmarks
Benchmarks usually have nothing to do with performance, but yes, DFI does make some nice boards, but so does Asus, Abit, MSI, and others. I use Abit.......and Asus and others, I generally find each has their own ups and downs, it just depends on what you're looking for.

i like DFI because it has the absolute best BIOS options. 4V for vDIMM, and an extensive BIOS. That and out of all the mobo's iT reviewed for A64 processors, the DFI held the highest and most stable overclock. there NF2 boards weren't so hot, but these new ones are right on the money.

Eeesh its a choice between two boards i dont like ;) I'd prolly go with the Abit since i'd like to have a standard SLI configuration in case somehting happens to the PEG Link.

dfi is the best but i'de say asus over abit any day
Try and say that about Intel boards -- and be right.

Yes but people that can score those benchmarks wont be asking what motherboard to buy

Bingo! :DOf course if you dont plan to populate all 4 dimms its not all that much hassle (and can be better since you can take the DDR Tester to another mobo when you upgrade)

What if I am only looking o overclock slightly, and not too constantly? would there be any compatibility issues with these boards?
Yeah in that case, have a look at MSI boards: generally second best overclocking capacity and a better hardware featureset than the DFI board
