About Asus... (and XFX)

Hi all,

Had a chat with some of my friends on assembling a desktop and somehow the brand Asus came up and had rather good feedbacks. So hope to check if anyone has any feedback and knowledge about this brand?

Basically where this brand originate from? How's their main board and graphic card? Is this brand reliable? And so on. Any feedbacks are greatly appreciated.

And also, how does Asus products matched up with XFX products? Comparable? Or there is a distinct performance difference?

Hope to hear from everyone soon. Thanks!

if you're talking about motherboards, Asus, as well as some others, is a great motherboard that I highly suggest for gaming pc's and others. great driver support, awesome overclocking (on the 2 I had), and the newer ones have great cooling.

If you're talking about graphics cards, I've owned eVGA, Gigabyte, and PNY. It's not the brand of graphics card you should be most concerned about, it's the compatibility with the chipset (motherboard) speed requirements for your needs, and longevity.

Thanks for the information.

Anyway, I am looking at Asus graphic card, the one with GeForce GX2 1GB GPU. So it should be compatible right?

Asus is a great motherboard manufacturer as far as specs go (overclocking included), but you won't notice the difference with an XFX board (if you pick Nvidia Chipsets from both manufacturers). If anything, XFX will make better Nvidia chipsets (they're most likely cheaper and they'll perform about the same).

As far as the graphic cards go, I'd take XFX or eVGA.

So in that case, will it be good to have a Asus motherboard with a XFX graphic card? Or the system will be better off with both Asus product or both XFX product?

Go with a Asus or Gigabyte for a motherboard. XFX and EVGA motherboards are both made by Foxconn. But XFX- EVGA and MSI all make good Video cards. And no its not always best to have like a XFX video card and XFX Motherboard thats the same brand. I would stick with a Asus or Gigabyte Motherboard and what ever the best price for performance video card.

Asus products are fantastic,my old system had a Asus mobo and its still running strong after 5+ years of heavy use.

my gfx card is Asus and also great.

i would recomend Asus to anyone ;)

Asus - Picky with RAM. Unless it's on their "compatible" list, it won't work.

Asus is picky with Ram but its not true that unless its on there list it will not work. Over the years I,ve used all kinds of Ram with Asus boards that are not on there compatible list.

I have had nothing but trouble with ASUS boards and the curry eating idiots that run their Tech department.

Go with Gigabyte .Techs there know what the heck they are doing.
