hi, i'm a newbie to using computer.

i just bought a new laptop. it has two hard disks inside. one is drive c and another is drive d. may i know how to use both hard disks? currently all the programmes and files are saved in drive c only. is drive d only be used when drive c is full? will the processing speed increase if the programmes and files are saved in two hard disks instead of only one?

thanks in advanced to those who kindly clear my doubt.

When you have two hard drives installed on any system you have the options to use the second drive for storage or to run a different operating system whether that be another version of Windows or a Linux distribution. On a portable unit the second drive would often have better use as a storage drive for various types of data in order not to use up drive space on the primary.

There are programs for copying all data from one drive to another generally named cloning softwares. Those create an image of the first drive while not always being able to run all softwares once cloned. Processing power is not effected so much by where any program is installed but by the size and design of it. To log on to the internet to post here took far less processor power then running a graphics intense pc game or even a large engineering program like CAD. Your best use here is to set aside the second drive for storing and backing up files you want to save without filling the first one.

Not knowing what kind of laptop you have, are you sure that you have two hard drives? The second one could just be a partition of the real drive where the recovery files are kept. If this is the case, there isn't really any reason to use that drive as it is small and only there for recovery reasons.
