my processor is fx 8350 amd and i have fitted 8gb corsair vengence single ram.it says installed memory 8gb (3.90 usable) in system properties. i dont know why

You most likely only have a 32 bit operating system installed. Only a 64 bit OS will read anything above 4gb of ram.

Update your BIOS. It may be the issue.

Check bios for memory remapping settings. What motherboard do you have? Another thing to check would be a max memory setting in the msconfig utility.

Click on start, click on search, type msconfig hit enter. When the system configuration box comes up, click on the boot tab, click on advanced options, Make sure that the max memory box is not checked. If it is uncheck it and click ok and exit out and restart pc.
