if i wanted to get a core 2 duo what type of heatsink would i need with it to safely overclock it and stuff? and im talking about a nonwater heatsink i mean like a fan like say if i buy a core 2 duo without a heatsink

Everything listed here is what I would of recommended. The Scythe series are amazing, but the ThermalTake Big Typhoon will easily overclock an E6400 upwards of 3.4GHz STABLE. The Freezer 7 is also a nice little addition for a heatsink and fan. It is pretty silent and boasts the Arctic Cooling name.

I agree with everything mentioned, as well as the Zalman CNPS9500. If you want the best of the best, get the Zalman CNPS9700 LED Sadly, I can't link directly to it, but it is at Zalmanusa.com, and I also don't know if it is sold yet.

EDIT:

It is sold at two places, but is kinda expensive :)
