Hey guys,

i was wondering, is there any kind of hardware/router that accepts, auths and provides and IP for VPN connections without having the need for your PC on. So the device just acts like your PC would if it was config'd to allow VPN connections in.

I've done some googling but no luck.

Hope my questions makes sense.

thanks

Steve.

Hi,

I've used a few, the linksys WRV200 (I think) was quite hard work to setup and it didn't do a very good job of re-establshing the link when it went down. I have also use the draytel one which was very easy to setup especially using the pptp. I did like the draytel's alot.

There are a couple of protocols you will probably use, pptp, which is easy to use, compatiable and good to mess about with, but not too secure.
IPSec is the business standard, its alot more secure, high encryption, but it more complicated to setup.
