Access is denied

Dear Sir,

I have a laptop which is running under Windows XP Professional would like to access to a shared folder in other desktop which is connecting to my Local Area Network. The desktop is also running under Windows XP Professional.

From the laptop, I could view the icon of the desktop in the network places. But when I would like to double click on the icon of the desktop, it will prompt out a message saying that "\\PC2 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permission. Access is denied."

Please help me in solving the above problem.

Hopefully to hear from all of you soon.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Gordon..

Odds are that you have different users set up on both computers. There are 3 options availbale to you (for the purpose of these we'll call the pc doing the sharing as the host, and the pc from which you are trying to access the host we'll call the client)

a) check the sharing rights of the shared folder, and enable it to be shared witha ll users on you network
b) Ensure that the user profile which you are logged onto the client with also has a profile (with the same password) on the host - and that the shared folder is allowed to be shared to that user
c) You can mount the shared folder to a drive under a different user profile (if you dont perfom suggestion b). Look at tools -> Map network drive

Do what apj posted and also if you have firewalls or the other PC in the network, try to disable them or just add your IP on their trusted zone as well as on yours.
