hi!

i have three computers at home which are connected to each other through a router. two of them are running winxp pro but the third is too slow and old for that. so i wonder if its possible to access network shares to a local network from a computer with no operating system, only dos when i start with a start disk. maybe i must have some network drivers?

i have no idea how this may work. anybody with some experience and step to step information?

thx!

1. DOS is an operating system heehee.

2. Traditionally you cant really network with DOS and Windows due to the limitations of DOS but with a small NOS you can make a server out of a decrepit machine. It wont be the same as Windows filesharing i.e., it wont be that simple a task but it can be done (even without Linux). The simplest way of doing things would probably to make an FTP server to/from the old machine to facilitate file transfers

3. Unless you want to be limited to a 1.38MB file then you’re gonna need a HDD at some point.

Grab the NOS at: http://www.eznos.org/
