Access point

Hello

I am looking to expand my current home wifi range in my living area with the internet modem router at the other end of house.

Would an access point connected to a powerline adaptor in the living area via a gigabit switch.

Just want to check if this would be the way to go.

Thanks.

Powerline's not going to give you fast speeds. Depending on the type of adapter and how long that connection is, it can give you fairly poor speeds (<20mbps) to upwards of ~100 mbps.

Thanks for the reply. Would it be best to connect the access point to the main internet modem router by an ethernet cable?

The only thing is the modem router is located at the other end of house, would there be another way to achieve expanding the wifi.
