So I got this old laptop, a Zepto Computer, the problem is the screen turned white, and it looks like its because of some of the cables inside the computer burned down.
So what i want, is access to my harddisk for recovery!
i was thinking if its possible to acces the harddisk with another laptop, over lan or maybe with some kind of cable..? or just any other solution to get access..
ive tryed using my HDMI cable to get the screen on the tv, and thats not working, at all!
You have a few differnt options, Easiest way is to take the hard drive out of the laptop and either a converter cable from a 3.5" to a 2.5" to plug in directly to a motherboard on a computer or a 2.5" caddy (either IDE or USB dependent on harddrive) and plug into a USB port on another laptop or computer.
On the laptop itself have you got a VGA monitor output rather than a HDMI port?
the VGA will automatically activate (or with the use of the Fn + Fkey to change between internal and external monitor) as the HDMI wont unless its preset too! something to try
Sorry for late reply, havent been able to get on much.
The VGA connector will look like
and CANNOT be accessed through USB
The USB caddy will look like
and basically you need to take the hard drive out of your laptop (varys between laptops but will mostly have 2 or 3 screws holding it in underneath a panel and will look like
)
Once taken out of the laptop you will then jus insert it into the caddy (fairly straight forward) and then plug in the USBs to another computer and away you go
