Hey Everyone,
I will be buying a 22" monitor to plug me xbox into for HD gaming. This is the one I was looking at (link)
I notice that it has HDCP support, but does that mean it can play games in 1080p or only 720p?

Thanks!

360, right? Original 'box wasn't a HD console.

HDCP.. I wouldn't think it would effect your ability to game at certain resolutions. It more relates to HD movies. So if you have that fancy HD-DVD drive, it would just allow the dvd to played on it's maximum resolution. That's banking on the fact that the HD-DVD D's HDCP compliant, no worries either way though.

22" Widescreen LCD Panel
The Acer AL2216Wbd combines an ultra-large 22" LCD screen with a 16:10 (1680x1050) widescreen aspect ratio to provide a truly broad window for superior viewing comfort and total HDTV movie and game immersion.

Get one of these either way and you will be fine.

And btw HD does not only mean high resolutions it has to do with the way a signal is manipulated and processed as well..

Look at the charts and resolutions further down the page.

Also...

Most newer computer graphics cards have either HDMI or DVI interfaces, which can be used to output images or video to an HDTV

HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection) this also pretty much means DVI. I would say the manufacturer is trying hard to make it look like a substitute for an HDTV. But truth be told unless something says HDTV on it, no guarantees.

I think you can come to your own conclusion with all this info.

Pretty much guaranteed...

well it did have 480P, which is HD

Actually it's ED, enhanced definition. Slightly better than standard definition but not good enough for HD. Yes HD is very snooty.

Eh, besides. I've tried it on the PS2 with God of War. Wasn't much better than the regular. I guess I'm just spoiled on PC game resolutions.
