my laptop has intel graphics accelerator 950 with 224 MB shared a 1.6 intel dual core and 1GB DDR2. I was playing Civilization 4 and it became real choppy, should i get more RAM?
 
your not going to get better game play with more ram when you have a integrated video card. if you want better game play i suggest buying a new laptop if you have the money.
 
Make sure that your video drivers are up to date. What resolution and settings are you playing at? You could try turning the resolution down and/or lowering in game settings to increase playability.
 
Well first off, vram won't help with performance. Bumping it back down to around 64MB or 128MB might help your system due to more system RAM being available.

I don't know how much "horsepower" the 950 really has. I know it's better than some of the say Via or SIS solutions, but it may just be too weak for the game.
