My friend's son loaded Linux into his notepad and overwrote his windows xp Home edition ULCPC. After many attempts to remove linux he finally opted to format his drive and then used killdisk to fully clean the drive etc. (after killdisk drive was reformatted again-Linux installs ok and runs fine but its XP he needs!!) Now he is unable to even boot the system up and get the following onscreen:
No OS Found
Insert OS setup disk, then press any key
Intel UNDI, PXE-2,1 (build 082)
For Realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI-E Ethernet Controller (v1,09 (080602)
PXE-E61:Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F:Exiting PXE ROM
no bootable device-insert boot disk and press any key
.......................................................................................
Does anyone know what I need to do to rectify the problem as he has no software whatsoever - and I dont know anything regarding notebooks.
What possible downloads to do and sites to go to for possible downloads to fix problem.
As he is a Uni student and really needs this notepad for school I appreciate any and all help I get to help him along
thx

Does he have an XP install disk? It should be as simple as popping it in, booting from disc and installing XP.

yes he ahas an xp disc from his main computer but it wont load into the notepad

Many XP discs that are included with computers are set up to only be able to install XP on that particular computer. You either need an OEM/Retail version of XP, or you need the disc specific to the Acer. Most manufactures offer replacement discs for around $10.
