Acer Aspire 5100 Hard Drive

I have a 120 GB internal hard drive, but I want to buy a bigger on, around 300 minimum. My question is, can I use any kind of hard drive such as any of these:

or does it have to be an Acer Aspire hard drive, if I can even find one?

According the Acer website. Seems this laptop come with the ATA100 hard drives. you need to find out before you buy it. Maybe you should call Acer support to find out ii it infact the old Pata drive it use in your laptop. if it is, you will have limited choices.

ATA Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00

So, what does that mean, as in can I get different hard drives?

According to the model number you have a sata hard drive. These would be the ones you could choose from.
