Acer Aspire 5724 Wi-Fi not working

My friend has an Acer Aspire 5724 laptop and spilled something on it, everything on it now works except for the wi-fi, the ethernet ports still work though. I'm guessing the wi-fi chip was fried and will have to be replaced, but has anyone else had a problem like this?

Does Wifi show up at all in Device Manager? If so, does it detect any networks? Is everything enabled (any hardware/software switches).

If the laptop were cleaned in any way, was the wireless card or antennas removed/reseated.

Is the slot clean? No residue on the card or slot itself?

Thanks for the reply. I do not have the laptop with me at the moment, and unfortunately will not have it for about another 2 weeks, but I will make sure to reply once I get it back.
