ACER monitors...

I too often hear the word "CRAPOLA" with Acer models! You can go further with the low respomse times like 2ms seen on Viewsonic and BenQ models alike. What size screen are you looking for? If you are heavy on gaming some Viewsonics and A pair of BenQs are seen at the links here.

Newegg currently has one BenQ 19" viewable seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014111

The higher price seen on the Viewsonic model at the link here is due to a printer thrown in on a combo deal ending on 12/27. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116375

For an OEM you look over a silver framed model for $199- at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116375R The max resolution on this one however is 1280x1024. :(

The latest game like Half Life 2 and Episode One alike plus Counter Strike, Fear, Prey, and others seem to max at 1280x1024. That is the usual while some do see higher or seem to run at higher.

Acer makes some of the best monitors you can get. My AL1722 is awesome!! I am planning on getting the 26" AL2616 in the future. With a contrast of 800:1 and a gtg response time of 5ms while still using the full 16.7 million color panel, its a great monitor.

Newegg usually has loads of 5 star reviews on Acer models.
Samsung and Viewsonic are really great too.

That's not what some have been reflecting on them. After personally having set up a few systems with Viewsonics I may go with one of their 19" models when I finally get around to replace a 17" BenQ with a 12ms response time here! ouch! is right! :( But those 5ms Viewsonics didn't look too bad either. For a gaming build the 2ms can't be topped. But another brand getting a good review lately especially if you have a tighter budget is the 4ms on a few AG models seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...6&Subcategory=20&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

I currently have an ACER it has been great. One time I caught it ghosting but I dont think it was the monitor it was more like the many progs I was running. It went away in a min. I love it

Benq is absolute shit. That's the kind of low end garbage you can buy at Wal-mart and stuff. Avoid them like the plague. Holy, I remember the ones I saw, the picture was absolute crap.

Viewsonic makes good monitors, yeah. Acers are pretty decent too, but I would take a Samsung before an Acer.

I think that was one of the main complaints heard on Acer. The complaints heard on Acer which may not come to no surprise have heard here at CF by several in a few recent threads. But like anything else if it works go with it. While not having run that brand here one that hasn't been named is Proview. After one of those... ! You'll be puling hair out by the roots! :P Meanwhile TigerDirect has a few "Hot" 19" Acer and Viewsonic models to look over along with Samsung and other makes at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=170

That's a typical comment to be expected from... By the way do they have Walmart in Canada? I know they have some large super sized warehouses that even have car dealerships in some locations. Those carry "everything" so that makes that last statement "BOGUS"! The selection on lcds includes Acer, Samsung, Viewsonic, BenQ, and several others.

Of course they have Walmarts in Canada. I shop there all the time for cheap, $0.30/hour sweat shop goods. I believe in supporting the less fortunate. lol. Besides, Walmart sells a superb can of Ravioli.

The stores are massive, but they don't have car dealerships or anything like that.. But just about any cheap piece of crap you can think of, from tires to socks to batteries to food to baby furniture and everything in between, they have it. It's insane. They do have some brand name electronics there that are half decent such as Linksys and D-link, but for the most part I would never buy any electronics from them. Those Benq monitors, apart from the price, disgusted me. They shouldn't be allowed to sell junk like that. Same with Proview.. ack. blech. *choke*

The first thing I will say to that is Viewsonic gets the edge over BenQ for picture quality right off. But that was comparing a 17" to 19" difference between two brands there. Walmart is more notorious for KDS and Proview without seeing BenQ but seeing Samsung. The Walmarts in the Southern U.S. are the few super larger super Walmarts that will see an occasional car dealer.

I suspect that is another business like some fast food chains will have a small shop inside a Walmart often. This was something brought up by a Walmart employee that moved from one of the southern states when comparing to a local super Wally. Walmart like any other retail store always has to have something to throw on their shelves. Despire buying a 19" Viewsonic as a gift for someone lately and looking at some of their models to move up from the 17" BenQ in use to a 19" model it takes some crap brands like KDS and Proview and puts them to shame!

Thankx, i guess im going to have to choose one from Viewsonic, Acer or Samsung. And after all the comments, i dont think the Proview from Wal-mart i was planning to get was a good idea :D. Now i know why it was cheap, $200 for a Proview 19" widescreen, lol...

Those are crud! One thing both SirKenin and me can readily agree on is that the stuff seen in Wallyworld is generally "CRAPOLA"! So far I have never seen BenQ in any Walmart I will point out. But I certainly favor Viewsonic over others from setting up several for people already. Keep in mind the low response times when choosing a model for gaming. 5ms or lower is best.
