Acer or Sony.

Hello I've been looking at those two netbooks because basicly I like what they offer and I like the designs of them.

I want to use them for studying. surfing/youtube vids etc. and watching movies and some low quality games like leage of legends.
I want the notebook to be able to watch 1080p vids :)

Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG-5454G32Mn

Sony VAIO E Series VPC-EA1S1E/W

If you got any others in mind please tell me!

Doesnt matter only if I lived on the moon I just want a clear answer :) about the two laptops i've linked ^^,

so we can see the price of them and the currency where you are to possibly recomend alternatives for around the same price wherever you are :)

I personally would go for the sony for looks and quality. Acer tend to make cheap laptops which on paper look good, but a few months-a couple years down the line, they aren't going too strong any more as their low quality parts start to fail. No laptop really uses great parts, but some are better than others, as can be expected in anything

Many will disagree with me on this but don't care, I would go with the acer. In the Navy we do a lot of moving and carrying our laptop/netbooks everywhere we go and I have never seen a sony stand the test of time, I have seen some acer make all the moving around though. Just my two cents from experience and what I have seen.

To many people trust in Sony cause of there name, have never been really impressed, with all the hardware problems I have watch people go through with them on my last two ships.

Sorry i disagree with the last post i remember back in the school days we got a whole heap of acers delivered to our school (50 or so) to put up around the place for teachers and alike and most of the times you would press the power button and you would get nothing just a blank screen which would force you to take the battery out then put the battery back in reconnect power. This was extremely frustrating being brand new laptops and all.

I would recommended Sony over Acer any day. Although I have to say Acer's netbooks aren't too bad.

price / value

Bang for buck go with the acer. As an idependent retailer for 16 years I've had no more returns on the Acer brand than the Sony. Different models within the brand can have problems be it Sony or Acer.

Sony's laptops are durable. My dad's pentium 4 desktop replacement laptop is still going strong, apart from the battery which is shot.

Did you really bring up school computers, when I went through school we used Mac's. Mac's are suppose to be the best computers out there for there build quality and yet they where crap in public schools.

All I am saying is between the two brands I have seen put to the test (not sitting on a desk) acer has out lasted many sony viao's, sony's don't like to move a whole lot, they may get hurt:rolleyes:

Never had a Sony, but have had many Acers and never had a problem with them. They've gone on for ever. I recommend.

Sony are expensive for what they are and I'm not that impressed by their build quality, having said that Acer are pretty poor in terms of quality when you compare them to HP.
