My laptop is an Acer 5630-6288. Wireless quit working. Worked for a long time, no problem. Took it to a repair shop. Guy told me after a week there is something wrong with the operating system software is why the wireless won't work. He asked me to bring in the restore disk I got with the computer. Told him I kept everything I got when I got the computer. Just never know. He insisted I got a disk when I bought it and this is the only thing to use to make the laptop work again. Backup what I got on it and reinstall the operating system using the disk (but I didn't get a disk)

What is this guy talking about, does he know what he is doing and what do I do now??????

that guy is probably bs'ing you to try and make money. the easiest thing is to do a system restore, go back to when it worked. to do this go to Start Menu>programs>Accesories>system tools>system restore.

either that or it is a driver problem, go to your laptop's website and look for the wireless card drivers.

some newer computer dont come with recovery disks, you have to burn them urself when u first buy the pc.

We did update the driver and the laptop connected for a couple days then right back to not working again. The repair guy said he used a linx or lixis, something like that, and third party wireless card (?). The Vista would not recogonize it.

"if those dont work, then DO NOT pay anyone to do a system recovery. all you do is back up ur stuff, then pop in the discs."

What disc(s)?

sounds like some sort of virus or trojan. restore back as far as possible and maybe that will help.
