ACER TravelMate 2410 upgrade

hi

i've jsut got ACER TravelMate 2410 with 256 RAM (sic!) and 40 GB dics.
i haven't experienced anything slower in my life... i'd like to upgrade a little bit so i can use it as a typewriter and internet surfing tool.
where to start?
what type of RAM does it have? i'd like to buy it online, i tried to look for it in the internet but there's many types of RAM and i don't know shit about it...

i'd be more than greatful for help

1GB at 1600Mhz [these are frequencies, the higher the number, the better] would be far better than, say 1GB at 533Mhz. You've got 256Meg of DDR2 @533Mhz. You can't really upgrade much else in a laptop, so get some more (Preferably 1/2GB) from

Yep. Although it's very hard to find 1GB of 1600Mhz RAM, generally that's for gamers and power users who buy 4GB+ at a time

In your case, no matter how fast memory you buy, it will be limited by the slowest stick of the bunch. (Assuming it's compatible, which it probably isn't)
The 2GB@533Mhz is your best bet. You'll have to take out the 256Meg Stick/ 2x 128Meg stick first though

That's the problem with only two DIMM slots
