Hi, I just reinstalled windows, because config.sys got corupted or deleted, but anyways. Its all reinstalled, and everything is working fine, I got all the updates and drivers.

Here's the thing, I want to go to c:/documents and settings/old account from because i reinstalled windows/aplication data/ (Which is normally hidden and you have to check to view hidden files and folders to see it) so i can copy all the finformation for Mozilla Thunderbird my e-mail client, it has all my acoucnt settings and most importantly all my saved mail, which is 100's and some are VERY inportant.

BUT when i try and open it it is says Acess Denied. I cant open that folder, ot Local Settings in the same folder, and a couple more, Why is my acess deiend? I am an admin account?(The only account even on this pc) and msot importanly how can i fix it/get to those files. I have always been able to do this before.

From what you said I guess you used NTFS file system, that's why you don't have permission to access that folder, even if you're admin. Because the file system considers the old admin as the only one who has read/write/execute permission.
Now all you need to do is google for some good NTFS Data Recovery program. I haven't been in your case before so I can't give you the exact solution, but this program might be able to help you: NTFS Reader for DOS

yes i do use NTFS, and that does make sence....but that program seems to much for me, is there any other way?

10$ via paypal whoever helps be solve this prob;em, it is very important i get acess to some of these files(e-mail) ASAP!!!!!

If you give me a few minutes, ill find the solution for you.

EDIT: I think you need to be an admin to do this

1. Turn off Simple File Sharing:
a. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
b. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
c. Under Advanced Settings, click to clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box, and then click OK.
2. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
3. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message, if one appears.
4. Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
5. In the Name list, click your user name, Administrator if you are logged in as Administrator, or click the Administrators group.

If you want to take ownership of the contents of that folder, click to select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.
6. Click OK.

You may receive the following error message, where Folder is the name of the folder that you want to take ownership of:
You do not have permission to read the contents of directory Folder. Do you want to replace the directory permissions with permissions granting you Full Control? All permissions will be replaced if you press Yes.
7. Click Yes.
8. Click OK, and then reapply the permissions and security settings that you want for the folder and the folder contents.
