ok, so I've been implementing computers at our church over the past 3 years, we currently have 3 desktops, and 1 server, i use this setup to enable certain group policies, and all the other good features that server 2003 has to offer. but the problem is that i have had no schooling on server 2003 and everything i do is from experience.

so here are my 2 problems, One computer, which is the same image on all the computers (all HDD's are cloned), it will not connect to the Internet, it will login, but not internet connection is made, and when i ping heres the response "destination net unreachable" but all the other computers are fine, and another thing, is there some kind of cache that keeps the users profile? like for instance the user can still login, even when the server is shutdown, but it only does this if the user has previously logged in when the server was up and running.

So after this long post, i really hope i can get some help here

ill answer your 2nd question first... yes it caches passwords if it cannot connect to the DC.

1st question... what are you trying to ping when you get that error message? give me the ip configuration of the computer with the problem and the server.
 
These don't have static IPs do they? You didn't clone the IP settings to each client? Is your server also running DHCP?
 
no, they have dynamic IP's ,or whatever MS windows uses as default, and that is cloned to each of the PC's, but like i said, only one doesn't have Internet connectivity.

Yes, the server is running DHCP, DNS, NAT, AD and some more.

now i can get you the information on the server, but not the workstations. if its needed, i can take screen shots, but you have to tell me what you need to see, and be a little specific if you can, just so i know exactly what you need to see

You also cannot clone computer names either, the Microsoft networking client requires that each client in the tree/network have a unique name. Are the names unique?
 
yes all the computer names are unique, and I will be able to get the info on the workstations 24 hours from the time this is posted, (I'll be at the church around 3 PM EST).
