Does anybody know of a good ad blocker software?

I need it to block all these ads on the web pages before they load. and block pop ups before them pops out.

thanks

IE 7 and now the beta for IE 8 includes a popup blocker in each of those. That will block anything period from coming up however like a download. The other option is to use one of the few addon toolbars seen with their own blocker that will allow downloads while blocking dimwit ads. http://www.infospace.com/home/tbar/

There will be times however when the ads are built into the page where you still have to click on the X to close those out even in FireFox since scripts and active x controls allow for them. For IE the toolbar not only will block popup windows but can be customized so that only those items you select will be visible on the bar itself.

firefox + addons = win

the addons are: addblock plus, no script, and stop autoplay.

been months since i've looked for more addons but these do quite well

While FireFox has it's advantages there are some things you can't with it like directly going for updates at the MS update site as one example plus other things where IE is necessary. The image here will show how fast the toolbar at the link posted earlier blocks any popups during a quick search. Yet any site deemed safe like your home page will allow intentional popups.

Personally I'm waiting to see how FF 3 comes out since the beta for IE 8 is rather buggy! IE 7 was still a good move up from IE 6 by a storm there.

I am currently using firefox and have been using it for a long time now.

I will try the plug in.

Reason i am asking is because long ago, like two years ago. I have Norton internet security and it has a option for ad blocking. And it was the single thing that I love the most out of all the software that I have used because the web plages show to banner on top or side or any flash images. it was just a clean web page.

you know what guys. you people just help me find what i needed.

with the ad on. No more banners. and the webpage is clean.

O ya. about norton. I will never buy their products again, even if it was free, I will not have it in my system.

It especially helps with those annoying banners like "Zap The Fly" and all you hear is the fly buzzing when your trying to hear something else.

buy? i always thought norton was a virus that consumes a lot of resources and normally comes bundled with a bunch of ads and trial-ware in a pre made pc

The simple term for Norton is "bloated" not the resource grabber it labeled often. The AVG free edition by Grisoft on the other hand is a more simplified program with a good active protection even when having it disabled in the msconfig. That's one of the reasons for that seeing it's popularity.

Most ads are written by scripting for the default browser seen in Windows namely IE. Any Mac users have any comments about the browsers used there?
